Move over Saucony Endorphin Pro and Nike VaporFly, there is a new kid in town and it’s name is the Rocket X- “an unprecedented performance shoe” from Hoka One One (Hoka, 2020).
The Rocket X is another needed tool in a runner’s tool box. The lightweight EVA foam allows for a soft touch to the underside of the foot, but a responsive ride down the road to your next win at a virtual 5K. The open mesh upper also provides a comfortable fit and breathability. The Carbon X, which holds the 50 mile world record held by Jim Wamsley, is meant for logging ultra marathon miles. Whereas the new Rocket X is made for the 5K and 10K. This new speedy shoe is a good fit for a competitive weekend warrior, an elite high school cross country athlete or college runner. Do not count Hoka out when it comes to performance. This carbon-plated speedster rings in at $180 US.
