Pink Ribbon Run 2020 Important Update:
It saddens us to say that we are going to have to cancel the 2020 Pink Ribbon Run. If you are already registered for the event, you have a few different options to choose from:
- Have your registration serve as a charitable donation to the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer. When we launched the Pink Ribbon Run our intent was to benefit a worthy charity in our community—and that’s still the goal. Your gift to the Vera Bradley Foundation would help further their mission of funding research to find a cure and to improve the lives of the many affected by breast cancer.
- Defer your registration to 2021. The Pink Ribbon Run will be back next year, and we’d love to see you there!
- Request a refund. We know times are tough for many in our community right now, so refunds will be honored.
You can still donate to this important cause here.
Three Rivers Running Company has teamed up with the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer research to help raise funds for life-saving research at the Vera Bradley Foundation Center for Breast Cancer Research at the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Vera Bradley Co-founders Barbara Bradley Baekgaard and Patricia R. Miller began raising funds for breast cancer research in 1993 after the loss of their dear friend, Mary Sloan. Since then, their genuine commitment to this cause has evolved into the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer. The Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer is focused solely on investing in breast cancer research. Currently, the Foundation funds research at the Vera Bradley Foundation Center for Breast Cancer Research at the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis.
Only in the Vera Bradley Foundation Center for Breast Cancer Research are researchers able to pinpoint the perfect drug or drugs to fight breast tumors and sync this knowledge with each woman’s genetic and personal profile. It’s exciting for us to know that this work—that will impact care everywhere—is only possible because of funding from the Vera Bradley Foundation.
Monogrammed Medicine is unique because researchers at the Indiana University School of Medicine are designing therapies that consider both the genetics of the tumor and the woman it has invaded. Researchers are learning how to predict and adjust if a patient lacks a critical enzyme to metabolize a drug, or if the antacid she takes interferes with treatment effectiveness, or if the treatment will be too toxic for her to withstand. Threading these intricate strands of information means that the breast cancer therapy prescribed is hers and hers alone. It’s Monogrammed Medicine. Together with donors, event participants, and volunteers, we hope for a future free from breast cancer.
The Pink Ribbon Run will feature a 4-mile run and 2-mile walk on the Lutheran Hospital campus. All proceeds will benefit the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer Research.
Let’s work together to end breast cancer, one stride at a time.
